He was later a professor at the University of Utah from 1962 until his retirement in 1984. There, he worked with established choirs, which were nominated for two Grammy awards. He also served as the chair of the University of Utah's Music Department. In his personal life, Weight married Dorothy Hill in 1936. The couple had six children. Weight also belonged to two clubs: the Good Sam's Club and the Golden Kiwanis Club. He died in Orem, Utah, at the age of 92.
